          Objectives

This workpackage focuses on the long distance optimised data transfer service including the following:

          • A comparison study of AARNet and GrangeNet network architecture, hardware, software configuration.

          • Investigation of local research repository infrastructure and the location of high-performance data points will be identified at selected sites.

          • Emerging data patterns and secure data transfer mechanism from key research applications will be identified.

          • A requirement analysis of hardware and software to support the network links between the data repositories.

          • Build a network model using network modeling, management and monitoring software to study the performance of the network on bandwidth, QoS, and security.

          • Confirm accuracy of the model by performing actual data transfer on the link.

The AARNet or GrangeNet network will provide the required network link with our requirements such as Bandwidth, and QoS etc.
